Are events sensory-friendly?
Yes. We plan quiet spaces, visual schedules, and flexible participation, with trained volunteers available at all times.
What is the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) law?
IDEA is a federal law that ensures children with disabilities receive special education services in public schools. It requires schools to evaluate students, create individualized plans, and provide services at no cost to families.
What is a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE)?
FAPE means your child has the legal right to an education that meets their unique needs, at no cost to you. Schools must provide services that allow meaningful progress.
What is an Individualized Education Program (IEP)?
An IEP is a written plan for students who qualify for special education. It outlines goals, services, accommodations, and how progress will be measured. Parents are equal members of the IEP team.
What do I do if my child did not qualify for an IEP?
You can request a written explanation, ask about a 504 Plan, or request an independent evaluation if you disagree. Even without an IEP, support options may still be available.
Where does my donation go?
Every donation directly supports Mimi’s Mission programs, including autism acceptance, family events, community resources, and first responder initiatives throughout Southeast Michigan.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Mimi’s Mission is a registered nonprofit organization. You will receive a donation receipt for tax purposes after your contribution is completed.
Can I sponsor a specific event or program?
Absolutely. Sponsorships can be designated for specific events or initiatives. If you’re interested in a custom sponsorship, please contact our team.
