Downriver Young Adults
The Downriver Young Adults (DYA) Program is a new in-person group get together for young adults on the autism spectrum. It is a group designed for members to make friends and enjoy social interactions with other autistic individuals within their age group.
Mimi’s Mission offers the DYA to Downriver residents. We will be creating a calendar of events for you to come to and enjoy some great activities. Our goal is to have one of these group functions 1-2 times per month. If you are between the ages of 17 and 30, on the autism spectrum and want to have some fun, then this is the group for you. To participate in this group, you must live in one of the 18 downriver communities.
A Few Notes to Parents:
- If your young adult does not have a FB account, we highly recommend they create one so they may interact with the participants of the group and manage their participation in each event. You are able to set parental controls and limit their interaction with strangers using Facebook security setup.
- Parents must accompany their young adult and stay for the duration of the meeting/event. If you can drive yourself to an event, you do not need a parent to attend.
- Membership to the DYA is free. Some events will be free to attend, and others may have a small fee depending on the event venue.
The information and discussion about this group takes place exclusively in a special Downriver Young Adults Facebook Group. IMPORTANT: You MUST accept the group rules on Facebook to be admitted into the group!
